A Home for Carinese History, Culture, and Community
Carini IOD is a cultural association based in the United States, dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the history, culture, and traditions of the town of Carini (PA), in Sicily.
Founded by members of the Italian – American community, it operates primarily in the state of Pennsylvania but is also active in other East Coast states.
Our main goal is to promote the cultural heritage of Carini through events, research, exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and educational activities.
We target the Carinese community living in the United States, Italian – Americans interested in their heritage, as well as scholars and enthusiasts of Sicilian culture.
For over 500 years, the story of the Lanza family—marked by nobility, tragedy, and silence—lived on only through documents and legend. But today, thanks to an extraordinary discovery and the power of technology, we can finally do something once thought impossible: look into their eyes.
Through a rare 17th-century portrait and advanced facial reconstruction, we reveal the faces of Ottavio Lanza, his sister Laura, the ill-fated Baroness of Carini, and their father Cesare, a powerful figure in the Sicilian Inquisition.
This is not just a story. It’s a resurrection of memory, identity, and humanity.
