CARINI I.O.D.
Carini IOD is a cultural association based in the United States, dedicated to celebrating and preserving the rich history, culture, and traditions of Carini (PA), Sicily. Founded by members of the Italian-American community, our mission is to connect generations through a shared heritage.
While we are primarily active in Pennsylvania, our reach extends across the East Coast, engaging with Carinese descendants, Italian-Americans passionate about their roots, and anyone interested in Sicilian culture.
Through events, research, exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and educational initiatives, we strive to keep the spirit of Carini alive—both for those who remember it and those discovering it for the first time.
Founded on November 25, 2008 by Vito Badalamenti and Aurelio Conigliaro, Carini IOD was created to preserve the cultural identity of Carinesi in the Italian-American community and pass down its traditions to future generations abroad.
Since its founding, Carini IOD has:
Organized cultural events in both the United States and Sicily
Partnered with Sicilian institutions and cultural associations
Published and promoted historical studies on Carini’s past
Produced audiovisual and documentary projects capturing the essence of Carinese heritage
What began as a local network in Pennsylvania has grown into a dynamic community that spans multiple U.S. states, fostering an active and ongoing dialogue with cultural institutions in Sicily.

This mission comes to life through a wide range of initiatives—including historical events, cultural publications, and youth engagement projects—all designed to strengthen pride in Carinese identity.
